ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 16-year-old dog survived a plane crash at Silver Springs on Dec. 18, and although it suffered a broken rib (local reports say), it is now recovering. KTVN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ 2 News Nevada received a handcrafted gingerbread house from Atlantis Casino Resort + Spa that shows the station’s logo on its roof, adding festive cheer this holiday season. The display highlights local traditions and creative spirit as part of the annual celebrations. KTVN
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Unemployment claims in Nevada dropped to 2,763 for the week ending Dec. 13 from 3,133 a week earlier, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Total new claims also fell to 224,000 nationwide, a decline of 13,000 claims. Reno Gazette-Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is paused this month in northern Nevada due to missing federal funding; local partners (including groups in Sparks) are working to raise money so children under five can keep receiving free books. KTVN

- ➤ Urban Roots suffered wind damage when a cover that protected vegetation was destroyed on Dec. 18 near Sparks - local staff are assessing repairs to restore the site. KTVN
