EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Honors Academy Robotics team was selected to compete at nationals (announced on Dec. 10). The team is now training for the upcoming event and will showcase local talent. KTVN
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Smoke was seen near Meadowood Mall on Dec. 10, and local officials have not determined its cause (cause unknown). No injuries or property damage have been reported. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washoe County commissioners approved a nearly $10 million state grant on Tuesday, Dec. 10 to keep the jail-based mental health program running through June 2027 (adding four deputy positions and expanding competency restoration services) to provide critical assessments and treatment for inmates. - ➤ Nevada's Worker Advantage Program will offer essential workers $20,000 for a down payment if they qualify. Residents meeting the criteria should expect further details from state officials soon. KTVN
