- ➤ Today the City of Sparks will light a 60-foot Giant Sequoia on Victorian Avenue from 6:30 to 7 p.m. with music by Copper Clover and free hot chocolate, plus tomorrow’s Hometowne Christmas Parade will begin at 1 p.m. along Victorian Avenue with festive displays and Santa photo sessions at 39 North. - ➤ Yesterday, the USGS issued a false 5.9 ShakeAlert warning near Dayton; UNR seismologists confirmed no earthquake was felt and Lyon County advised residents not to call 911 (the alert reached nearby areas including Washoe County).
