  • The Gold Ribbon Gala is scheduled for today and is sold out—residents can still join an online silent auction to support the event.  KTVN
  • Lyon County Shop With a Sheriff is seeking donations to help bring Christmas cheer to a local kid—residents can contribute to make a child's holiday special.  KTVN
  • The 33rd annual Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive will take place soon to collect donated food for residents in need, and organizers plan to use the same drive-by model as in past years — a simple way for neighbors to help during the holiday season. This community event continues a long tradition of giving and support.  KTVN
  • Local hunger relief organizations are teaming up to distribute meals across Sparks during the holiday season—supporting residents as Turkey Day approaches. Workers will continue handing out food at community centers to help those in need.  KTVN

CRIME NEWS

  • Washoe County Regional Animal Services seized 30 dogs and 12 poultry birds from three cruelty cases in the past week and has urged approved rescue partners to take available dogs—easing the shelter's overcrowded conditions caused by ongoing court cases.  News4

HEALTH NEWS

  • Northern Nevada Public Health warned families today about a nationwide recall of ByHeart infant formula amid a federal investigation into infant botulism—23 suspected or confirmed cases have been reported in 13 states, and parents should stop using the products, throw them away, and sanitize any touched surfaces. The recall covers all batches of Whole Nutrition Infant Formula cans and Anywhere Pack products sold at major retailers such as Amazon, Kroger, Walmart, and Target.  Reno Gazette-Journal
  • Molina Healthcare of Nevada gave $50,000 to Thrive Wellness of Reno to help build a new residential treatment center (set to open in early 2026) that will offer medical, dietetic, psychiatric and therapy support for people with OCD, anxiety and eating disorders.  KTVN

  • Spanish Springs secured a spot in the Division 5A state championship and McQueen will face the 4A South champs in title games set in Las Vegas—both teams are now preparing for the contest.  KTVN
