- ➤ Washoe County will host a free event to honor local veterans at the Sparks Senior Center (97 Richards Way in Sparks) on Friday, Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Attendees will raise root beers while listening to the National Anthem and a Reno Silver Dollar Chorus performance (joining veterans, service members and their families in tribute). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers in North Valleys face nightly ramp closures on southbound U.S. 395 at the Clear Acre Lane/North McCarran exit from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., which began on Nov. 3 and will last until Nov. 8 as NDOT widens and repaves the highway — detours via Oddie Boulevard are in effect and the ramp will realign to the right by Nov. 8. - ➤ The Nevada Secretary of State warned Sparks residents today to verify urgent requests amid the federal shutdown as scammers use AI to fake government and financial contacts—residents are advised to contact agencies directly before sharing personal information. News4
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Nevada Health Link has launched its 2026 enrollment period with 140 Qualified Health Plans and 13 Qualified Dental Plans from eight private insurers — including new state-approved Battle Born State Plans available online. Nevadans can enroll until January 15; those enrolling by December 31 will have coverage effective January 1 while enrollments from January 1 will begin coverage on February 1 — ensuring access to federal financial assistance for lower premiums.
