  • Local nonprofits including Catholic Charities and The Salvation Army are preparing the homeless for the coming winter by setting up overflow shelters and offering free clothing vouchers—programs like Night Off The Streets and youth emergency shelters add to these efforts. CRIME NEWS

  • The parents of 12-year-old Kellen Schatz, who died after repeated bullying at Shaw Middle and an 8-minute delay in a 911 call, filed a lawsuit against WCSD and Sparks police—alleging that school officials concealed incidents of bullying and delayed response left Kellen unprotected.  Reno Gazette-Journal

  • Reno-Tahoe International Airport remains open as federal workers continue to work without pay during the government shutdown. The airport authority partners with Children's Cabinet & Food Bank of Northern Nevada to send food and household items to help these workers.  KTVN
