- ➤ Families will be honored today at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home during the seventh annual Gold Star Family Luminary — a ceremony that recognizes military families. KTVN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire broke out on a Pleasant Valley pasture on Friday—burning nearly half an acre with calm winds and causing no injuries or property damage as Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue investigated the cause. KTVN
- ➤ The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada assisted a Sparks family of eight, including six children, after their house caught fire on Friday on Chaucer Street by providing medication replacements and safe accommodations while Sparks firefighters, the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA controlled the blaze—support that will continue as community resources connect with the family—and people were advised to avoid the area. KTVN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Dark Prison Haunted House opened its first full season at Nevada State Prison on September 27th and will run for 17 nights this Halloween season—having moved from the National Bowling Stadium venue. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The pavement project on USA Parkway between Interstate 80 and Electric Avenue began on September 27—lane reductions will continue until the end of 2025. KTVN
