- ➤ Today, law enforcement in Storey County is teaming up with neighboring agencies to promote traffic safety during the Street Vibrations event, urging drivers to check blind spots and riders to wear protective gear— aiming for zero fatalities. The weekend event will attract thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts who will enjoy custom bike shows, live entertainment, and vendors. KTVN
- ➤ Today, 100 children in Northern Nevada receive new beds donated by Hope to Dream in partnership with Serta Simmons Bedding—The Salvation Army will distribute twin mattresses, bed frames, and bedding sets between 10 a.m. and noon to families pre-enrolled through its social services office. KTVN

- ➤ Lockdowns at Smithridge Elementary and Pine Middle Schools happened Thursday morning after police responded to a report of a suspicious man with a gun near the campuses—principals told families that teaching continued at Pine and drop-off routines remained unchanged at Smithridge, and police later released the man after finding no crime occurred. - ➤ RFD conducted a Water Entry Team and Hazmat training on September 25th. The exercise taught how to manage a chemical spill in the Truckee River—boosting readiness for future incidents. KTVN
- ➤ The Regional Transportation Commission announced that Howard Drive at Sparks Boulevard will be closed starting Monday, Sept. 29 for about two weeks for underground utility improvements as part of the Sparks Boulevard Project — residents should detour via Fargo Way to the O’Callaghan Drive and Sparks Boulevard intersection.
