- ➤ A Sparks man who survived the Holocaust passed away—his celebration of life will be announced later. KTVN
- ➤ Special Olympics athlete Zachary Green will be honored at Guardian Games at Reed High School for his life-saving organ donation legacy—he donated his heart, lung, liver, kidneys and corneas to save lives. Nevada Donor Network, Special Olympics Nevada and Law Enforcement Torch Run host the event. KTVN

- ➤ Traffic is slowing westbound on I-80 between Lockwood and Nugget Avenue as vehicles head into Sparks — officials report no crash or road closure and the cause remains unknown. KTVN

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Joe Lombardo said that 90 percent of Nevada’s public state websites and the DMV were restored after a cyberattack on Aug. 24 that forced systems offline. The state is still working to fix a few services, including the sex offender registry plus the firearm background check system remains offline. Reno Gazette-Journal
- ➤ Road construction on USA Parkway has been delayed—work will now take place in the coming weeks instead of this week. KTVN
- ➤ Washoe County residents who are disabled, low-income, or elderly can apply until September 30 for free curbside chipping to remove dry and dead vegetation from their property; Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue will provide service from October 11—October 19 and send approved residents an email with scheduling details. KTVN
- ➤ Governor Joe Lombardo said during a Friday morning press conference that 90% of state services are online — however, key functions such as background checks remain offline. State agencies are working this weekend — they plan to restore the remaining functions soon. KTVN

- ➤ SilverSummit Healthplan is giving $20,000 to Reno Rescue today at their ranch in Verdi to support a youth equine mentorship program for foster and adopted children — the donation will let the organization train 20 new mentors and serve 40 local children, with a 4:30 p.m. check presentation followed by a live mentor training tour. - ➤ Northern Nevada is planning to launch a new department focused on addiction medicine—its purpose is to raise awareness about available substance abuse treatment options. The effort aims to help more residents access vital care. KTVN
