- ➤ FAM Fest will take place this Sunday at Sparks Marina from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—organized by Washoe County Human Services Agency to support foster children, youth and families. The event will offer free activities such as tug-of-war, face painting and live appearances by Bluey to encourage awareness of fostering, adopting and mentoring. News4

- ➤ Forbes released its 2025 list of Nevada’s best employers, naming 35 top companies — including 13 based in the state — after surveying over 160,000 employees on work culture, wage parity, and advancement opportunities. Reno Gazette-Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Nevada-Reno’s Aerospace Club launched its second student-built rocket today at Black Rock Desert, reaching 16,850 feet with a main energy failure that led to drone recovery of its parts — the club plans more tests soon, funded in part by a $5,000 donation from Voyager. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews poured concrete for all three north supports of the Arlington bridge—work will soon shift to the south channel of the Truckee River. The full project will continue until summer 2026. KTVN
- ➤ Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam is running for reelection and said he is committed to using automated license plate readers, AI tools, and expanding drone technology. His plan, announced on September 10, focuses on modernizing law enforcement measures for future benefits. KTVN
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Kaiser Permanente is partnering with Renown Health to form Kaiser Permanente Nevada—this joint venture will apply for regulatory approvals soon and will allow members to access both Kaiser facilities in California and Renown services in Northern Nevada when approved.
