- ➤ City of Sparks invites residents to attend its fifth annual Parks and Recreation Fall into the Holiday craft fair on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Recreation Gym—over 75 vendors will offer handcrafted jewelry, quilts, and other products along with food trucks. KTVN
- ➤ Lockwood Senior Center will soon open — a ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for October as community leaders prepare to welcome residents to the new facility. KTVN

- ➤ NDOW said a mountain lion was spotted passing through the Whole Foods parking lot on South Virginia Street just before 3 o'clock last Friday morning — the agency noted that the animal is on a wide travel route and not expected to return soon. NDOW also urged residents to secure trash and keep pets indoors at dawn and dusk as bears and coyotes become more active. KTVN

- ➤ Nevada Department of Wildlife said a recent mountain lion sighting was normal and that locals need not worry—bears and coyotes pose a greater risk. KTVN
- ➤ On September 8, Sparks City Council met — Mayor Ed Lawson set key dates such as Citizenship Day on September 17, Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, FTD Awareness Month, and Accentuate the Positive Day on September 15. The council approved a $3,000,000 payment to Reno for the Heat Loop project at the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility and a $407,200 deal for computer security services — actions to help public works.
