CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A delivery driver identified as Jason Ebel—a 32-year-old from Sun Valley—was arrested in Spanish Springs for peering through a bedroom window at around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 after deputies reviewed video footage and notified his employer. News4
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After recent thunderstorms lowered the Truckee River’s turbidity, the Truckee Meadows Water Authority resumed full water production on Aug 27. Treatment plants operate normally—customers may resume outdoor watering on their assigned schedules. News4
- ➤ Many government offices and public services in our area will be closed on Labor Day, September 1, including Sparks City Hall, Sparks Parks and Recreation, and the Municipal Court. Other services such as county libraries, transit offices, and the U.S. Post Office will also be closed—residents should check local updates as schedules vary. KTVN
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Renown warned that COVID cases are rising at urgent care centers in the region and advised people to wash their hands frequently and stay home when sick. They said most people treat mild illness with cold and flu medicines and rest—patients with symptoms should get a COVID test. KTVN
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Nevada Football will honor Marion Motley by rotating his retired No. 41 jersey among players this season. The tribute begins today at Penn State—Charles Brown is the first to wear the jersey to celebrate Motley’s legacy. KTVN
- ➤ Today, Nevada Men's Hockey Club launches its second season by joining the American Collegiate Hockey Association D3—its schedule of league games will test the team's skills—while local fans look forward to competitive matches. Detailed timings for upcoming games have yet to be announced. KTVN
