BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mellow Fellow, a downtown Reno restaurant, announced it will move to Sparks next month. Its new location — called Mellow Fellow International — will open in September and feature food from 12 countries while its current spot across from Greater Nevada Field will close at the end of this month.  KTVN

CRIME NEWS

  • A local security company said AI camera technology helped police catch a burglary suspect earlier this week—police reviewed footage that showed suspicious behavior.  KTVN
  • A social media post in Spanish Springs claimed a cat was decapitated by a human, but Washoe County Regional Animal Services determined a wild predator—most likely a coyote—killed the cat near Lazy 5 Park and encourages owners to keep pets indoors.  Reno Gazette-Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • People are preparing for Burning Man as they shop at Junkee to gather supplies for their pilgrimage to Black Rock Desert — local businesses are busy and expect more activity as the event nears.  KTVN

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fire crews are mopping up near the contained Rancho Fire north of Cold Springs today as they secure fire lines and hotspots. The blaze, which burned over 1,400 acres and was started by metal grinding, led to evacuations and drew help from several agencies — work that continues amid gusty winds.  KTVN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Washoe County Sheriff’s Office marked National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day by sharing a 20-minute documentary and resources via its Facebook post that explained fentanyl's dangers and its impact on families and the community. The agency said its Detention Facility offers treatment programs, mental health support, and recovery resources to break the cycle of addiction — efforts that will continue as the crisis evolves.  KTVN
