  • Sparks roads will be closed ahead of a rib cook-off event, plus the closures will remain in effect until September 4.  KTVN

CRIME NEWS

  • Washoe County deputies in Cold Springs arrested Amber Luck, age 36, for child abuse or neglect and Jeremy Dalebout, age 48, for providing false statements to obstruct an officer after a 3 year old was found wandering alone on Tuesday, August 19—authorities said the child was safely returned home.  KTVN
  • Sparks Police say a 12-year-old runaway named Suelton Nixon (also known as Nino and diagnosed with autism) was found safe today after last being seen in a dark-colored shirt, blue shorts, and black shoes and may have tried to board a bus.  KTVN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Reno-Tahoe International Airport will add new pick-up and drop-off zones ahead of Burning Man—these changes are planned to ease traffic for event travelers.  KTVN
  • The Nevada Transportation Authority reminded potential burners to review travel safety guidelines as Burning Man nears — advice meant to help travelers plan safely.  KTVN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Washoe Behavioral Health Center will soon begin a multi-phase construction project — a key part of Washoe County's plan to improve behavioral health services.  KTVN
  • Doctors at the Renown Transplant Institute completed the first live donor kidney transplant in northern Nevada on August 11 with a local mother donating to her daughter— the medical center celebrated the procedure's success.  KTVN

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, Bud Light launched limited-edition University of Nevada, Reno cans to boost college football spirit for fans in the region and to support 28 sponsored teams in its Vendor Voices campaign. The campaign—featuring actor and comedian Shane Gillis—brings a humorous twist to tailgates, bars and home game viewing.  News4
