- ➤ Hot August Nights ended today with a parade along North Virginia Street and an awards ceremony at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center where over 30 cars were honored. The parade started at the University, passed under the Reno Arch, and ended at Liberty Street, with Reno Police motorcycles leading the route + vintage cruisers following. KTVN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Ferrari Farms (a local attraction) is hosting the Summer of Sunflowers festival that began on August 2 and will run until August 24 (showcasing sunflower displays) for local visitors. KTVN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Local Washoe County families shopped for back-to-school supplies at the Outlets at Legends over the final weekend as they prepared for classes starting today — many looked for the essentials to begin the school year ready. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city of Sparks announced plans to reopen Victorian Avenue (following community backlash over the Summer in the City pilot program) after Hot August Nights ended today. Temporary road closures will remain for the Nugget's Rib Cook-off and concerts at the Nugget Event Center. FOX Reno
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Reno Aces lost 5-2 to the Tacoma Rainiers on Sunday after falling behind early when a Tacoma grand slam put them at a four-run deficit. Ivan Melendez and Sergio Alcantara scored the Aces’ only runs as the team ended its road trip with a fourth straight loss and will host the El Paso Chihuahuas next week. KTVN
