ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue said the Ironwood Fire reached 75% containment and evacuations were lifted north of Spanish Springs, while federal agencies and local fire departments battled the 44-acre blaze with no injuries or property damage reported. KTVN
- ➤ The Ironwood Fire north of Spanish Springs is fully contained with no injuries or structure damage reported—Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue, along with federal crews plus Reno and Sparks Fire Departments, managed the response and lifted all evacuation orders. KTVN
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Scolari’s Food and Drug announced it is closing its last two locations in Sun Valley and Sparks due to a lease issue, the owners said on Wednesday afternoon. A final closing date will be shared soon—along with plans to support transitioning employees. Reno Gazette-Journal
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Between January and June, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office made 203 DUI arrests, with 178 as first-time, 21 as second-time, and 4 as third-time offenses + 38 arrests involved DUI-related crashes and the average blood alcohol level was 0.17, over twice the legal limit. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nevada will receive $442,381 from a multistate settlement with Gilead that resolved allegations the company paid improper incentives to boost prescriptions of its HIV drugs. Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford said the settlement—approved by a federal court after an investigation—will support the state Medicaid program. KTVN
- ➤ Today, the Nevada DMV warned drivers about scam texts that falsely claim to be from the agency and demand payment for an unpaid traffic ticket due today—these messages threaten enforcement penalties starting tomorrow and direct recipients to a fake payment website. Residents are urged to ignore and report these texts to keep their personal information safe. KTVN
- ➤ NDOT announced lane shifts on U.S. 395 South in the North Valleys—part of a project that will add a through lane and new merge lanes between Golden Valley and McCarran—and ramp closures have begun to improve traffic flow. KTVN
