COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lakeridge Golf Course hosted a neighborhood meeting on July 8 to gather feedback on expansion plans that will protect the current 18-hole course—supporters and opponents shared their views while Duncan Golf Management will review the comments before a follow-up meeting on August 19 at Reno City Hall.  KTVN
  • Over 10,000 votes have kept 32 local food trucks in the running to be named summer’s No. 1 in the Northern Nevada Food Truck Showdown. Residents can visit food truck rallies—such as today’s event at Cyan Park from 4 to 8 p.m. and another at McKinley Arts and Culture Center from 5 to 8:30 p.m.—with voting open until 11:59 p.m. PT on July 13.  Reno Gazette-Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • EmployNV is hosting career workshops for job seekers in Sparks and attendees will receive personalized resume feedback — organizers say the tips will help improve job applications.  KTVN
  • Novva Data Centers opened a 300,000-square-foot data center in Storey County's Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center on a 20-acre site offering up to 60 megawatts from six 10MW data halls and a 100MW on-site substation — remaining capacity will be available in 2026.  KTVN

CULTURE NEWS

  • The National Automobile Museum offered free admission and free ice cream while supplies lasted on July 8th. Local visitors enjoyed browsing the classic car exhibits—an event that attracted community interest.  KTVN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nevada construction workers have renewed the 'Respect the Cone: My family needs me home' safety campaign to remind drivers to slow down as summer road work resumes after the July 4 holiday weekend. The campaign will appear on billboards and public ads along Arrowcreek Parkway and in Sparks—aiming to cut speeding and distracted driving to protect workers and families.  KTVN
