- ➤ Troopers responded around 9:45 p.m. late July 6 to a motorcycle crash on I-80 near East McCarran in Sparks where a man lost control, struck a concrete barrier and was ejected, dying at the scene — no other vehicles were involved and his identity will be released after next of kin are notified. - ➤ A motorcyclist died in a crash on I-80 in Sparks on July 6th when he lost control near E. McCarran at 9:45 p.m. and hit a concrete barrier, closing the eastbound lane for several hours. News4
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Sparks Police Department is seeking help with the investigation of the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Felipe Acuna, who was shot on June 27 near 440 Greenbrae Drive during a parking lot gathering — authorities described the suspects as two Hispanic males and noted a dark green GMC Sierra truck with a white cursive sticker was involved — and a $5,000 reward is offered for tips. - ➤ Washoe County School District will host a series of career fairs in July at Dilworth Middle School in Sparks to help people learn about openings for elementary, middle, high school, and other positions. The fairs run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 9, July 16, July 23, and July 30 — staff will assist with applications and answer job questions. News4
