- ➤ A brush fire temporarily closed part of I-80 west near Derby Dam on July 3rd, 2025+ local officials issued a Red Flag Warning as gusty winds up to 35 mph and low humidity increased the risk of rapid fire spread. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation ceased operations and laid off all 40 staff on July 3 after allegations of severe financial mismanagement were made against former executive director Heidi Anderson. The board said financial insolvency forced the shutdown (which may lead to loss of nonprofit status and suspended programs) and that the City of Reno and Sierra Nevada Journeys are helping ease the loss of summer programming.
