- ➤ Kick for a Cause hosted its fifth annual kickball tournament at Shadow Mountain Park to raise funds for children with disabilities—kids were recognized and Reno Aces mascot Archie made his first kick. Councilman Donald Abbott and co-founder Stephanie Weiss said the event fills important insurance gaps—teams also competed in a silent auction and raffle for extra support. KTVN

- ➤ Sparks firefighters responded to a building fire near Buffalo Way and Greyhaven Lane at 12:45 a.m. Saturday+ they controlled the blaze and are investigating the cause. KTVN
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 19-year-old man from Reno was fatally shot in Sparks late Friday night near 440 Greenbrae Drive when an altercation at a parking lot gathering led to multiple gunshots at 11:25 p.m.—he was taken to Renown Medical Center and later pronounced dead. News4
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washoe County hired a consultant to review the county manager’s office and found that staff and commissioners need a reset — county manager Eric Brown retired on June 10 following the report's recommendation. Commissioners plan to start short-term changes this year and complete structural improvements by 2027. Reno Gazette-Journal
