COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Salvation Army of Washoe County is asking local residents to donate protein-packed items like ground meats, peanut butter and canned soups to prepare its food pantry for the summer—donations will be accepted on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1931 Sutro Street.  KTVN

CRIME NEWS

  • On Tuesday morning, Sparks Police responded to reports that 28-year-old Dejohn Radigan entered his ex-girlfriend’s home near Vista Boulevard and Peppergrass Drive, fled at both incidents when officers arrived, and was later arrested—he now faces charges for aggravated stalking, failure to appear, and obstructing.  KTVN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Washoe County School District approved its 2026 budget — a presentation showed the deficit had been lowered since January.  KTVN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NDOT will host a public meeting today from 4-7 p.m. at the Rainbow Bend Community Clubhouse in Lockwood - the meeting will cover plans to widen I-80 east of Sparks.  KTVN
  • The Sparks City Council voted unanimously Monday to expand the homeless camping ban to include Victorian Square, the Sparks Marina, and all city-owned parks and parking structures—new rules now define camping as staying in one spot for over six hours and warn first-time violators before a misdemeanor charge—so the city can protect public safety and support local businesses.  Reno Gazette-Journal
  • Attorney General Aaron Ford said Nevada will get $58 million from a settlement with Purdue Pharmaceuticals (a key update on opioid settlements).  KTVN
