- ➤ The Andelin Family Farm is working with the City of Sparks to preserve the farm (to secure its future) as Rail City grows around it. KTVN
- ➤ Regional Junior Ranger Day is happening today at Mira Loma Park with activities planned for youth and families. A red flag weather warning remains in effect until midnight with gusty winds and low humidity — local officials advise caution and adherence to fire restrictions. KTVN
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A wind advisory is in effect today until 11 PM PDT for parts of Nevada including our local area, with winds at 25 to 35 mph — gusts may reach 50 mph and blowing dust could lower visibility. A red flag warning remains until midnight — low humidity and gusty winds may spark fast fire growth, so residents should secure outdoor items and avoid yard work that might start a flame. KTVN
- ➤ Firefighters say strong west winds (up to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph) are pushing the Conner Fire and making it hard to contain, and they ask residents to keep a safe distance today. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ RTC said construction on Mill Street will continue with plans to add a median between Terminal Way West and Matley Lane—officials confirmed the project is moving forward. KTVN
- ➤ The City of Sparks closed sections of Victorian Avenue on June 19th at 12:15 a.m. for safety during Taco Fest and the Alabama concert at the Nugget Event Center and will reopen them on June 24th at 6:00 a.m. Locals are advised to use alternative transportation and park in designated lots.
