- ➤ Cancer Community Clubhouse is hosting its 5th annual National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration on June 21 at Sparks Marina from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon — the free event honors cancer patients and survivors while featuring field day games, a community resource fair and a raffle to raise funds. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ An analysis of federal highway data from 2019 to 2023 found that 28% of fatal crashes in the Reno metro area occurred during rush hour—the highest share among 70 metro areas—and that Reno ranked 16th overall for its risk score. Reno Gazette-Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Lombardo completed his legislative session by signing 518 bills into law and vetoing 87 — finishing all actions on session legislation. KTVN
- ➤ Governor Lombardo vetoed 87 bills this year — beating his 2023 record of 75 vetoes — including measures on paid leave and assisted reproduction. He said the vetoes were meant to protect a business-friendly environment and keep current policies in place. Reno Gazette-Journal
- ➤ Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced today he joined a coalition of 51 other state attorneys general who filed an amicus brief to protect full G.I. Bill benefits for veterans & their families. The bipartisan effort, led by Virginia, aims to respond to the Yoon v. Collins case where a veteran was allegedly denied his benefits. KTVN
