The Sparks Parks and Recreation Department is inviting local artists to submit work for display in the Sparks City Hall Art Gallery.

Artists must provide a cohesive body of 4 to 10 pieces, an artist statement, and digital images by July 7—I selection panels will choose one artist per quarter to showcase on a 12-foot by 7-foot gallery wall that welcomes roughly 2,000 monthly visitors.

A rollover crash happened in Sparks on June 4 when a marked Washoe County sheriff’s vehicle—traveling south on Pyramid Highway—entered an intersection on a red light and hit a Chevrolet Traverse; both drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Firefighters in Cold Springs responded this afternoon to an RV fire on Egret Lane that spread to a nearby home—quick action prevented further damage and no residents were displaced as authorities investigate the cause.
