ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On May 25th, a car carrying five teens crashed on South McCarran Boulevard, killing Israel Lerma-Flores (from Sparks) and Jesse Bravo (from Reno) instantly while police said speed and alcohol contributed, as Adrian Morales later died and one teen remains in critical condition. - ➤ A crash on Vista Blvd in Sparks that occurred after 1:15 p.m. on Friday involved three cars and led to hospital treatment for three people while officials closed the road between Vista Del Rancho and Wingfield Hills until one lane reopened in each direction—Sparks Police said speed was likely a factor and advised drivers to use alternate routes. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Washoe County Library System will run its 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, 'Color Our World', from June 1 through July 31 to let readers earn prizes by completing reading and creative activities. Children and teens can earn up to three free books and adults may get free items and discount vouchers—most library branches are hosting kickoff parties from June 3 to 9, with Incline Village hosting a block party on June 7 to mark 20 years at its location. - ➤ Grand Sierra Resort and Casino donated $20,000 today to The Children's Cabinet Redfield Academy—an initiative that helps high school students who need extra support. Graduating seniors celebrated with lunch and bowling while CEO Kim Young said the donation is an investment in youth potential. KTVN
- ➤ Governor Joe Lombardo signed Senate Bill 444 today to tighten rules on student use of electronic devices on school property and during activities. District boards must include a progressive disciplinary scale in their policies—exceptions allow necessary device use. News4
