- ➤ BLM and local agencies plan to clean up a hazardous stretch along Interstate 80 east of Sparks on Saturday, June 13 to remove trash and address safety risks. Volunteers + ATVs will support the effort as DOT closes a lane for access. FOX Reno
- ➤ Waffles and Wishes returns for its 14th year to support Make-A-Wish Nevada by granting more wishes to 250+ kids battling critical illnesses. The annual fundraiser will share event details with local community members soon. KTVN
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Since the war with Iran began, rising gas prices have forced the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to spend over ($16,000) extra on fuel, straining its budget and lowering volunteer turnout. Its recent donation drive gathered 97,000 lbs of food, a decrease from last year. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Regional Transportation Commission is set to begin construction tomorrow at 7 p.m. on South Virginia Street between Moana and Hubbard Way as part of the Virginia Line Bus Rapid Transit project — the project will add bus-only lanes from Peckham Lane to Plumb Lane to improve transit safety. - ➤ With boating season underway at Lake Tahoe, the Nevada Department of Wildlife reminds boaters to wear life jackets + follow safe boating practices to enjoy water activities. The agency advises careful conduct to keep the lake secure. KTVN
