CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Northern Nevada hosted many amusement parks over the last 120 years, with Coney Island Amusement Park in Sparks offering rides, a dance hall and events until fires and other issues forced its closure. Other parks like Moana Springs in Reno and Ponderosa Ranch near Incline Village also ended, with their names and structures still marking the past—reminding locals of fun summers gone by. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A small gas leak near Palmer Elementary School led to student evacuations on Wednesday just after 8:30 a.m.—WCSD School Police reported no injuries and sent a crew to gather more details. KTVN
- ➤ The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees approved a one-year contract with Southwest Foodservice Excellence—an Arizona-based company—to manage its food service program that serves over 60,000 students and provides free meals to 68 schools under USDA programs. Families will be notified of any price changes and updated menus as SFE gathers student feedback for the 2025-26 school year. KTVN
