ACCIDENTS NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washoe County Commission approved a $1 billion budget for fiscal year 2026 on Tuesday that avoids layoffs and a hiring freeze despite a $2.5 million deficit, with county officials planning to use rainy day funds to fill the shortfall. The budget keeps most department funding flat while modestly boosting public health and road repairs—county leaders warn rising expenses may lead to larger deficits in coming years. - ➤ Starting July 1, Sparks will cut jobs, freeze several positions, and raise trash fees by 10% to help close a $21.4 million budget gap amid uncertain tax revenues. - ➤ The Nevada Legislature passed Assembly Bill 256, a bipartisan measure to form a task force that will study regional rail options for linking local communities, and the bill now awaits Gov.
