COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Don Gargano worked on a Mill Street project Wednesday to widen lanes and improve sidewalks while asking drivers to slow down and give workers room to work. The 'Respect the Cone' campaign, led by local contractors, will run ahead of the busy summer season — NDOT data shows work zone crashes have killed 31 people and caused over 7,000 accidents since 2019.  News4
  • The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office will host a free Barks and Badges event on Saturday, May 31 at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno that will feature hourly K9 demonstrations & interactive exhibits from public safety units. The event, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will also include displays from the Mounted Horse Unit, SWAT, and other agencies while benefiting Washoe County K9 Partners.  KTVN

CRIME NEWS

  • At around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, deputies responded to a call about a missing trailer loaded with a skid steer from a home off Red Rock Road in northern Washoe County, and the Sheriff's Office said Deputy Magness is leading the investigation and urges anyone with information to call non-emergency dispatch with case number 25—2367.  KTVN

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A wildfire near Wadsworth was 60% contained Tuesday after it burned about 25 acres and forced evacuations while slowing traffic on I-80. Officials reported no buildings were damaged and no injuries occurred—fire crews conducted mop-up work as investigators continue to look into the cause.  KTVN
