Many commemorative events across Northern Nevada will honor fallen service members this Memorial Day weekend with activities scheduled on May 24, 25 and 26.

Sparks residents will join a free run/walk at Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza on May 26 at 8 a.m.—other events include flag placement in Fernley and a parade in Virginia City.

Truckee Meadows Fire – Rescue said that forward progress on the Oling Fire in Wadsworth stopped on May 20 and evacuations were lifted, with firefighters containing 30% of the blaze.
