- ➤ Investigators revealed that the Davis Fire was likely caused by an improperly extinguished campfire or warming fire and started in September 2024 at Davis Creek Regional Park, leading to over $9 million in property loss including 13 residences and a church, but no lives were lost—no criminal charges will be filed. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wildland firefighters conducted a prescribed burn in Dog Valley (near Reno) on May 7 to clear underbrush and reduce wildfire risk. Officials (from local fire management) said the controlled burn followed planned guidelines to protect the area. Reno Gazette-Journal
