- ➤ Educators are celebrated during National Educator Appreciation Week in Washoe County schools from May 4 through May 8 (with Spirit Week events and local business discounts) while the WCSD Board of Trustees will read a proclamation on Tuesday, May 12 to honor their impact. KTVN
- ➤ Sparks High students celebrated prom at the National Auto Museum on Saturday, May 2 & pictures capture a memorable night of dancing and fun. Reno Gazette-Journal
- ➤ On May 4, the Safe and Healthy Schools Commission approved a recommendation to shift resources to the Teen Intervene Program + the Washoe County School District now considers updating its substance abuse prevention approach. KTVN
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sparks is launching a goat grazing pilot program first week of May at eight locations (Kyley Ranch, Stonebrook, the future City Hall site and near the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility) to reduce wildfire hazards and herbicide use.
