- ➤ Mayor's Dog Bowl charity bowling tournament was held on April 28th and raised funds for Options Veterinary Care — a nonprofit that gives pets of low-income families and senior citizens life-saving care. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hot meal service resumed at the Washoe County Senior Center yesterday after a kitchen remodel halted cooking—seniors had criticized the recent switch to a salad-only menu. County officials said the planned April menu will be used in May as renovations continue to improve the center. News4
- ➤ At the Sparks City Council meeting on April 28, city officials discussed regional fire collaboration, federal lands advocacy and mayor Lawson's proclamations naming May as Teacher Appreciation, Older Americans and Skin Cancer Awareness Month along with designating International Firefighters Day on May 4 and National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service Day. City Manager Dion Louthan announced seven vacancies on the Citizens Advisory Committee while the council approved an employment agreement worth $209,518.40 with benefits for the new Community Services Director and directed steps to settle pending litigation. - ➤ University of Nevada President Brian Sandoval was appointed to a four-year term on the NCAA Division I Board of Directors, starting April 2 until August 2029. The 1986 graduate said he is honored to serve—he will work to improve the student-athlete experience and help shape strategic policy for Division I. News4
