- ➤ Join Together Northern Nevada has partnered with local law enforcement for a drug take-back event on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PDT at nine Washoe County sites—covering areas in Reno, Sparks, Spanish Springs, and Cold Springs, where residents can safely drop off unused prescription medications while law enforcement and the DEA ensure proper disposal; sharps are accepted at separate locations. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gasoline prices in Nevada dropped to $3.87 per gallon today, down four cents from last week and much lower than last year's average of $4.60. Crude oil is currently $62 a barrel — down from $82 — while local prices vary, with Las Vegas at $3.87 and Reno at $4.16. News4
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Nevada Department of Education said Washoe County School District did not follow the proper process to apply for funds for a residential treatment program for a deaf student with significant behavioral needs. The school board voted on April 22 to take legal action against the state—planning to use $50,000 from general funds for legal fees—despite the state stating that funds from the Contingency Account for Special Education cover such placements.
