CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities arrested Manuel Lopez Gomez in connection with an alleged homicide when a woman was found dead last Thursday in an Incline Village home—he was extradited from California on Wednesday and booked into Washoe County Jail. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Lombardo declared April as the Month of the Military Child in Nevada—an honor for over 11,000 military children—and the American Red Cross of Northern Nevada is partnering to offer programs that help kids deal with moves and long separations. KTVN
- ➤ Washoe County library director Jeff Scott received a low 90-day evaluation with an overall score of 1.42 that marked him as minimally effective in strategic planning, operations and community engagement. The board met yesterday at 5:30 p.m. at the Downtown Library and discussed potential actions including a corrective action plan, pay cut or dismissal—each raising questions about his future with the library. - ➤ Sparks Mayor Ed Lawson said he will keep fighting for a 13-mile toll road to ease traffic between Spanish Springs and the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center after a bill for the project died in the Legislature on Friday. - ➤ The University of Nevada is seeking nominations for the 2025 Athletics Hall of Fame — former athletes will be eligible 10 years after their last competition, coaches 5 years after retiring, and teams 10 years after winning while key staff may be considered. The school is also accepting nominations for the Silver and Blue Service Award to honor volunteers and will receive nominations online or by mail until May 31. KTVN
