COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Construction crews will reduce Kietzke Lane to one lane in each direction near Gentry Lane next week — drivers may face delays.  KTVN

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Amazon will celebrate the opening of its SNV4 facility at 605 Herz Blvd. in south Reno on Thursday, April 23 + it will offer one-hour and three-hour delivery options for the Reno-Sparks area while replacing its old fulfillment center after a decade of service.  Reno Gazette-Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Northern Nevada tourism officials reported that 3,857,199 visitors came in 2025, up over 36,000 from 2024. Mike Larragueta of Visit Reno-Tahoe said 66% of visitors came for vacation and increased outdoor recreation helped boost local business activity.  News4

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At its April 14 meeting, the Washoe County School Board could name longtime Deputy Superintendent Tiffany McMaster as interim superintendent effective April 15 while preparing for her formal appointment after Superintendent Joe Ernst retires (on July 8). Contract talks would begin promptly, and the board may also review a national search option.  Reno Gazette-Journal
  • McQueen High School was placed on a secured campus on Thursday, April 9 from 11:58 a.m. to 12:38 p.m. after a potential threat was deemed not credible, and extra police maintained safety while classes resumed normally.  News4
  • Washoe County School District will host three recruitment fairs for open positions with administrators on site at Procter R. Hug High School in Sparks Saturday, April 11—events at Debbie Smith CTE Academy in Reno will occur on May 9 and June 27 as applicants update online applications.  KTVN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Truckee Meadows Water Authority will soon break ground on its advanced purified water facility to boost local water supply. Jaden Urban explained the project’s potential in a recent presentation.  KTVN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Public health officials report an increase in tick bites in northern Nevada, raising concerns about Lyme disease for both residents and pets. They advise everyone to take protective measures (especially pet owners) to reduce exposure.  KTVN

SPORTS NEWS

  • Aces Baseball held its first Throwback Thursday game on Apr. 9 — marking the season’s kickoff as Mr. Baseball returned to the field and celebrated the team's new start.  KTVN
