- ➤ Local agencies including the Reno Aces and HSA are joining forces to mark National Child Abuse Prevention Month and will plant over 1,000 blue pinwheels in Washoe County on April 10 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Greater Nevada Field—residents are encouraged to learn how to spot and report signs of abuse and neglect. - ➤ Ryley Coker, a former Hug High School teacher accused of trying to pay a 16-year-old for sex, was sentenced to 16—48 months in prison — credit for 118 days served was applied. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Nevada assembly bill that would stop book bans in public and school libraries had its first hearing Tuesday—lawmakers debated measures to keep texts accessible. The bill would prevent school boards and others from removing or moving books and would require a court review for any challenge to library materials. Reno Gazette-Journal
