- ➤ A family was displaced when a fire broke out in a home in the Wadsworth area Wednesday afternoon, and though the home is a total loss, all residents escaped safely. KTVN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ After 16 years, the Nevada State Fair (a revived tradition dating to the 1800s) will take place this summer, June 11-13, at sites including the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center and the Reno Rodeo Arena, featuring events like the Nevada Junior Livestock Show, a 4-H expo and junior bull riding contests. - ➤ Gas prices are climbing in Nevada as oil costs rise due to the Iran conflict (experts predict it will take a week or two for prices to drop after the war ends). KTVN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Governor Lombardo and Dr. Victor Wakfield visited Alice Smith Elementary School today during Nevada’s Reading Week to stress that learning to read builds a strong foundation for future success. KTVN
- ➤ The Discovery hosts the first Girls’ STEM Career Day on Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering exhibits + panel discussions with local engineers to help girls explore STEM careers. KTVN
- ➤ The Washoe County School District held a public meeting at Pine Middle School on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. to review design schematics (based on parent feedback) that set plans for a consolidated school, with construction to begin later this year and reopening planned for 2028-29. KTVN

- ➤ RTC will offer free rides on the Virginia Line this Saturday, March 7 to mark five years since the transit extension to UNR launched. The service connects downtown + Midtown + the university with enhanced stations and easier boarding for faster trips. FOX Reno
