  • Prost Biergarten, a local favorite, will close on March 29 & end its operations, so residents can plan their final visits before the venue shuts down.  KTVN
  • Boomer's Sportsbook held its grand opening inside the Bonanza Casino on Monday, Mar. 2 — the opening was delayed by winter storms.  KTVN

CULTURE NEWS

  • The City of Sparks sought local artists to design a mural celebrating downtown history in honor of America’s 250th birthday. The open call closed on Mar. 1; the winning design will receive $17,000 and be revealed at a public celebration with live music + guided tours downtown.  City of Sparks

EDUCATION NEWS

  • After two snow days, WCSD said the final school day remains unsettled as classes are set to end on June 8 but may shift to Tuesday, June 9 (primary election day) while officials work with the state education office to schedule make-up minutes.  Reno Gazette-Journal
  • Sierra Tots has opened registration for a program that helps children aged two to four improve motor skills & build social connections. Parents can learn how to apply at the local center.  KTVN
  • A new report from the Lumina Foundation shows that only 44.7% of adults in Nevada hold a post-high school credential while just 36% earn at or above the national median salary. State leaders stress expanding CTE programs to help students and adults finish their credentials.  FOX Reno

  • Hydrologists report that snow on Mount Rose remains below average and many local basins lag behind seasonal norms despite recent rain + warm temperatures, while Truckee Meadows Water Authority says water supply stays secure as spring nears.  News4

  • Catholic Charities said nearly 3,000 local SNAP recipients were disqualified as it works to clarify aid guidelines—residents are encouraged to review their eligibility.  KTVN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Renown Health is partnering with the University of Nevada, Reno for the Healthy Nevada Project, a study designed to improve education, prevention, detection, and treatment for three genetic conditions affecting one in 75 people. The project will help Nevadans learn their genetic risk and act early.  KTVN
