COMMUNITY NEWS

  • SPCA of Northern Nevada is low on wet cat food—which helps keep their cats hydrated and healthy—and is asking for donations from the community. Drop-offs are accepted at 4950 Spectrum Boulevard during business hours, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  KTVN
  • Today is the last day to donate shoes to help local kids in the Girls on the Run Sierras program, which builds young girls' confidence through exercise. Donations will be accepted at designated drop-off points around town.  KTVN

  • Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives visited Smiling With Hope Pizza on Lakeside Drive Friday when owner Andrew Silvaroli and his mother served New York-style pizza to waiting locals; the episode aired at 9 p.m. on Food Network, and business boomed with local fans.  Reno Gazette-Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • EmployNV will host hiring events on Tuesday and Wednesday — sessions that help job seekers find local work. The events will let attendees connect with potential employers in the area.  KTVN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NV Energy is offering a $63 million refund to ratepayers after overcharges were found, and affected customers can check if they qualify plus learn about the refund process from the utility. The program aims to correct billing errors and ensure proper credits.  Reno Gazette-Journal

  • Local health officials announced opioid addiction grants with a deadline to declare intent by March 15 so community groups can secure funding for prevention and recovery support.  KTVN
