- ➤ Students at Doral Academy built an AI system to enhance wildfire evacuations and became semi-finalists in the national Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition (a contest for local solutions). KTVN
- ➤ Rita Cannan Elementary is on a secured campus as Reno Police manage a developing situation near Silverado Blvd and Cannan Street (also affecting High Desert Montessori) and updates are expected soon. KTVN
- ➤ Rita Cannan Elementary + High Desert Montessori resumed normal operations after police activity placed them on a Secured Campus near Silverado Blvd and Cannan Street on Feb. 26. District officials said the schools are functioning normally and will issue further updates if needed. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washoe County Sheriff’s Office announced K9 Odin’s retirement on Feb. 25 after five years of service, during which he supported patrol operations and regional task forces alongside Deputy Evans — who first paired with him in 2021. Officials praise Odin’s loyalty as his retirement marks the end of a career. FOX Reno
