- ➤ Sparks Florists has been busy crafting flower displays all week for Valentine’s Day to bring fresh blooms to local celebrations. The shop’s focused work plus creative designs promise to brighten neighborhood festivities. KTVN
- ➤ EmployNV is hosting job workshops across Northern Nevada this February; in Sparks at 2281 Pyramid Way, a Resume and Career Workshop runs Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. and a Mock Interview Workshop on Feb. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. + walk-ins accepted. KTVN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Eagle Valley Middle School held a paper airplane competition on Feb. 13 — students used the laws of aerodynamics to design, build and test their airplanes while faculty highlighted the project as a hands-on science lesson. KTVN
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local forecasters report that the weather shifted over Valentine's Day weekend & winter storms are expected next week in Sparks. KTVN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NDOT crews on Mount Rose are working in staggered 12-hour shifts to cover day & night operations in preparation for an upcoming winter storm. The department says these shifts are designed to secure public safety as severe weather is expected. KTVN
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Nevada women’s basketball team hosts San Diego State today at Lawlor Events Center — the game tips off at 1 p.m. and airs live on Nevada Sports Net with a free livestream available. News4
